Can we talk about how good of a public speaker he was, especially at only 17? I know many adults who not be able to go in front of a crowd and speak with this much confidence.

The saddest realization for me was probably that he was definitely smart enough to know that he doesn’t have much time left, yet he went up on that stage and told millions of people about his dreams, which he knew he wouldn’t have enough time to achieve

If you’re reading this, know that you are worthy of anything you desire. But you might have to let go of the past and release the huge accumulation of fear based beliefs and emotions you have picked up since childhood. Success isnt created by accident but by design. You have a creative mind and unlimited potential. Never forget it. Stay strong and be blessed.

Behind this intelligent, brave and happy man stays his amazing mother and father first of all, who instilled in him his positive thinking and made him feel whole: special, accepted and loved. If he was born into some poor uneducated family, struggling to put bread on a table - we wouldn't even know about his existence. Big credit goes to his parents. With all that said, do not want to diminish Sam's efforts and how hard it was for him to overcome daily challenges of life. He is the most definite inspiration for all of us.

Omg. I've recently been struggling with poor mental health and have been almost as low as you can go. Watching this has had a profound positive effect on me. What an incredible young man, and I hope you are at peace Sam. What a beautiful soul and how lucky his friends and family were to have him if only for a brief time. I will certainly return to this video to give me strength in the future, from the bottom of my heart thank you Sam. Also God bless all those that were close to him, especially his wonderful parents. I'm so happy I found this video

I don't think the fact he passed out a month later is depressing, of course the fact he left the world makes us sad, but by sending a message before he died makes me think his purpose on earth was somehow achieved through that, and I think it'll be more depressing to have spent a longer but less aware of happiness life than a short but truly enjoyed life like he (I hope) did.

"Being brave isn't supposed to be easy", simple but profound quote. What a wise and phenomenal speech for someone his age. Sorry to hear of his passing may he find rest.

Sam passed away not even a month after this was posted 😢. The fact that there are still new comments, likes, and views on this video daily, almost a decade after it was posted, shows just how meaningful and impactful he was to so many in his short time alive. What an amazing kid.

Learning that he passed away shortly after this talk was posted was like a punch in the chest. What a pure soul we all would have loved to have known. What an inspiration you are, Sam.

He was told that he couldn't play the snare drum because he was only 53 pounds due to his disease. What he decided: "Nothing is going to stop me from playing the snare drum at half-time.' He found a 'solution' outside the limitations of the 'problem.' Working with an engineer to design a snare drum that fit his size. Way to go Sam! Also, his message: "Never miss a party" has gotten me off my couch and pity pot when I'm having (Not-COVID related health symptoms) to attend events and have a good time....not letting the 'symptoms' limit what I can do. YES to focusing on what I "can" do rather than bemoaning what I 'can't.' And YES to always finding something to 'look forward to. YES to acknowledging symptoms when they are present...Then, having a quality life and focusing on life that IS available and waiting to be enjoyed. BRAVO Sam!
